Dealing with office politics is inevitable. Honestly, the only way to avoid it is to quit. When you work with other people, there will always be people vying for position, power, or to get ahead.

So what's office politics all about? It's a game of positioning and/or manipulation to gain advantage or what one wants in the workplace. It's also about avoiding threats, building allies, and maneuvering the landmine known as the work environment.

You're best defense is to understand it first, then learn your work environment and it's players. Don't be an Ostrich with your head in the sand. You might find your feathers plucked and your ass fried.
